Hobbiton day
The Shire
The day started with a fabulous breakfast and some New Zealand stories provided by our lovely hosts Colin & Jan. We then headed out with our target set on a short hike along the river before lunch and ended up on the Arapuni Suspension Bridge , the suspension bridge was built 1926 to enable access across the gorge for the builders of the hydro power plant. We almost made it back to the car before the rain started.
We found a small charming little cafe along the road for lunch and then headed off to our next destination
Hobbiton!!!
The rain was pouring, but thanks to our wellies and rain gear it wasn’t bad at all and we were almost alone…
It was not part of our original itinerary but extremely happy we got to visit! It was great fun to follow in the footsteps of Sam and Frodo and a great honor to visit the Shire.
