To the skies
What a day!!!
All I have to say is WOW!
Today we got to fly in a float plane, it was AMAZING! The weather was perfect and we had the best pilot, Steve from Volvanic Air . We started with takeoff from lake Rotorua, then we flew and circled White Island, a permanently active volcano with its last eruption 2019 (covered in the Netflix documentary “The Volcano” which we won’t look at until we got back home)
We then flew back to the mainland and Mount Tarawera, checking out the many craters formed in the 1886 eruption.
On the way back to Rotorua we flew over Waimangu Volcanic Valley where we visited yesterday and many lakes before we landed safely on lake Rotorua again.
After lunch we drove to Skyline Rotorua
and rode the Gondola up for a nice view of the lake, it did not beat the view from the plane.
The main reason we rode the Gondola was to get to the start of the Luge track. A Luge is part go-cart and part toboggan (kälke/rodel). We rode the 4 open Luge tracks down the mountain and it was great fun!
